This meta tag makes the Tango Web Analyzer (Tango WA) user ID cookie value available to Tango application files.
Tango WA is the Web site and analysis tracking component of Tango 2000. If you are running Tango WA on your Web server, you can use the cookies that Tango WA creates to help track visitors in your Tango applications.
By default, Tango Web Analyzer employs user IDs to track visitors. These user IDs are implemented as Tango WA cookies; they enable Tango Web Analyzer to identify visitors, determine new and repeat visitors, and analyze visit information.
It is not accurate to use just IP addresses to identify visitors. IP addresses are reused and redistributed to visitors who use Internet Server Providers (ISPs) and dial-up servers to access the Internet. With Tango WA User IDs, however, visitors can be recognized persistently even if they use different IP addresses, as long as they accept cookies.
When configuring Tango WA, you can choose one of the following options to track visitors:
The option "Use cookies (include IP address, browser string, and timestamp)" is most useful for tracking visitors from behind firewalls or those using proxies.
This value is used in conjunction with the current time to identify current visit and visitor. Once this user ID is available to Tango Server, you can associate information with a visitor to a site, allowing you a range of site-building possibilities, such as personalizing a user's Web shopping experience,
